How Much More Money Are You Willing to Waste?

Two weeks ago, I received two separate text messages. 

 

One was from a long time Newell Strength member, who had recently purchased my Panda Diet book.  She went through it and applied the lessons and protocol within and dropped 8 pounds, easily I might add, in her first week on the plan.  

 

She was ECSTATIC!

 

The other text was from an old friend that ordered the book, read it in one sitting and wanted to inquire about joining the next Panda Challenge.  He raved about the book, over and over.  

 

Point being, you can simply purchase my book, for a pittance of $30 and have all the ‘dieting’ answers you’ll ever need for the rest of your life or you can continue to search out dieticians, magical programs, ridiculous experts that will have you weighing every morsel that crosses your lips, only to have those programs work very short term after which you’ll suffer the dreaded rebound.

What Say You?

2 weeks ago, I was doing a walking Mind Map session with a client, when she shared with me what one of her prospective employers had asked her.

 

Fill in the blank: Failure diminishes _______________.

 

Her response when put on the spot like that was ‘confidence’. 

 

She asked me my thoughts and my immediate gut response was ‘weakness’.  

 

I could see the lightbulb go off in her head.  

 

Failure and resistance build you up.  If you are being built up, you are becoming stronger and less weak.  Resistance training of any sort makes you come back bigger and stronger (not only literally).

 

When you train your mind, you see the opportunity in every setback.   Setbacks are for you, they don’t happen to you.

Slow Down to Go Forward

A few weekends ago, Devon and I were having a stay in date while my mom and dad were watching the kids.

 

We got to talking and as is common with mothers of 3 young children, she gets overwhelmed from time to time with all the household responsibilities.  

 

Well, I asked her if she wanted a tip (learned this over the years, never just give advice outright) and indeed she did.  

 

I explained to her the tendency to want to do more, to go faster, to work harder, when we feel overwhelmed.  

 

The answer though, is the exact opposite.  Slow down, have a dedicated time for just breathing and breath work/meditation each day, preferably early on.  

 

The answer to an overwhelmed feeling is never ‘more’.  

 

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Why Are You Working Out?

Too many people make the mistake of thinking their workouts are solely for weight loss purposes.  

 

The first question you have to address is, ‘What’s the goal of your workout?’

Evolution not Revolution

As I was going for my Monday morning walk, I had a smack of inspiration.

When this comes to an end, regardless of which beliefs you  have about it, we need to be thinking evolution, not revolution.

A revolution would only lead to force vs. force, which is lower levels of energy.  

An evolution begins more on a level of the self.  Yes, things should change after this….for the better. 

Appreciate your relationships more.  Realize that life is finite and that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but rather, spiritual beings having a brief human experience.  

Evolve to have compassion for those that differ in opinion, even if you will never see it their way.  

Let’s all start raising our vibrational energy  level as we come out the backside of this.

Mental Toughness Monday: Punch Your Fear in the Face

As I was walking with Emma last week, I was reflecting on fear and mind mapping.  Fear comes from the reptilian brain, the oldest part of the brain that is focused purely on survival.

However, that part of your brain will react only in the instant when it perceives survival to actually be threatened.  The problem is when you continue to take in information that is activating this part of the brain.

It’s a problem because then your human brain starts to develop scripts and stories about the future and all the doom and gloom and ‘what ifs’. 

As I’ve said many times before, fear exists only in the future and the future doesn’t exist.  I know it’s a mind blowing concept, but I want you to meditate on that for a minute today.  

And, give your fear a punch in the face today and put it back where it belongs.

At Last, 2 Things That You Do Have Control Over

For the past 2-3 weeks, you’ve been hearing a lot about the things that you don’t have control over.  

You haven’t been provided with much clarity on when this will come to an end.

And that lack of clarity will lead to a stress response, in this case, freeze mode. 

Well, I have good news.  

I want to direct your attention to the two things that you  always have control over; your effort and your attitude.

Yup, no matter what is going on in the outside world, you can control  your inner world through effort and attitude.

Throw the past few weeks out as learning experiences and decide right now how  you are going to work on your effort and attitude moving forward.

1- The Fat Shredder is coming!  Realistically it’ll probably start at some point in the backside of May and run until the 4th of July weekend.  Here’s all you have to do for now: start thinking of your teammates. Each team will have at least a member, non-member and one woman (teams of 3).  It’s gonna be epic and just what we all need at that time:)

4 years ago, I got a tattoo of a ying-yang panda on my wrist.

To me, it represented duality, fierceness with tenderness.

It happens to fit for me and it is part of my philosophy of life.

The Anti-Resolution Plan

 

While at a party the other day, someone said to me, ‘I am done with making resolutions!  They never work and they only ever make me feel like a loser.’

 

She was right, they don’t work.

 

Resolutions are usually made on a whim and they are usually based on an extreme amount of willpower that mere mortals don’t normally possess.

 

Think about what resolution means.  It means to resolve a problem.

 

A problem has a solution.

 

A solution is a plan.

 

The reason resolutions don’t work is because there is no plan of action.  Saying you want to do something is meaningless.

 

Action is where it’s at.

 

And if your undertaking is something you are dreading, you are doomed to fail.  You don’t transform your life by doing something you despise.

 

The anti-resolution program is to do it differently than everyone else.

 

You focus on habits and systems and you don’t do anything that involves boatloads of will power.

 

The anti-resolution plan means creating a map ahead of time.

 

Planning is one of the most important things you can do, a quadrant 2 activity.
