I Think My Phone is Bugged

Last Sunday night, I got a text from longtime friend, client and Coach, Drew, who now runs a very successful fitness business down in New Orleans.

It read, ‘Good luck with all the upcoming changes this week, I am sure you will thrive and handle it all with grace’.  

I was puzzled, because I hadn’t spoken to him about any of the changes I had planned.  How did he know? 

I didn’t put too much thought into it other than ‘The Universe is telling me that I am right on target’.  


Signs are everywhere if you choose to pay attention.

Your Heart and Mind Must Align

About 5 weeks ago, I had one of the most amazing weeks of my life.  

That was when we opened Newell Strength, despite the lockdown.

Did it make logical sense?  Not necessarily.  

But I wasn’t following my brain, I was listening to my heart.  And when you listen to your heart, you cannot go wrong.  When you ignore your heart, you almost always go wrong.

I knew that my decision was based in pureness of heart and therefore I had nothing to fear.  

And the results spoke for themselves.

Make sure your mind aligns with your heart, not the other way around.

Evolution not Revolution

As I was going for my Monday morning walk, I had a smack of inspiration.

When this comes to an end, regardless of which beliefs you  have about it, we need to be thinking evolution, not revolution.

A revolution would only lead to force vs. force, which is lower levels of energy.  

An evolution begins more on a level of the self.  Yes, things should change after this….for the better. 

Appreciate your relationships more.  Realize that life is finite and that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but rather, spiritual beings having a brief human experience.  

Evolve to have compassion for those that differ in opinion, even if you will never see it their way.  

Let’s all start raising our vibrational energy  level as we come out the backside of this.

My Success Principles

Nine years ago, I made this video while driving to jury duty.  

In it, I talk about my success principles.  The interesting thing is that they remain true today.  

And I can trace my path back to following these principles day in and day out for the past decade.

Back in early March, Cori Burd came in to interview for one of our 6 sweepstakes spots.

He was timid and lacked confidence.  

Believe me, he’d agree with that assessment.

Well, he was selected.  

And because of circumstance and the unforeseen global lockdown, the others had to put their experience on hold.

Cori though, he didn’t flinch.  In fact, he ramped up his efforts.

You have two types during this.  

Those that turned into ‘Homer Simpson’ and those that saw it as an opportunity to challenge and grow into a superior version of themselves.  

Cori chose the latter.

The man is down damn near 40 pounds.  He could have waited and began after things were back to normal.

But Cori knew that if you wait until all the lights are green to GO, then you’ll die without ever having really lived.

Let Cori’s inspired action inspire you to grow.

1- The Fat Shredder is coming!  Realistically it’ll probably start at some point in the backside of May and run until the 4th of July weekend.  Here’s all you have to do for now: start thinking of your teammates. Each team will have at least a member, non-member and one woman (teams of 3).  It’s gonna be epic and just what we all need at that time:) 


2-I am opening the doors to the second Panda Challenge, which will be starting within the next 3 weeks.  The first 12 ‘Panda’s’ are crushing it and dare I say, all 12 are on track to hit their 45-day goals! Yes, I only take 12 because of the high level of Coaching each client receives.  5 of the spots are already taken from people that just missed the cut for the first Panda Challenge. Beware of the Fake Experts

A few weeks ago, a fake expert butted their way in to the conservation a gentleman was trying to have with me.

And as fake fitness experts are apt to do, they start spewing advice that is unwarranted and not asked for.

That is mistake number one.

Anyhow, it got me thinking about some of the ‘concepts’ you’ll hear from fake fitness experts.  If you know these, you’ll be able to spot them a mile away and save yourself the hassle.

Fake fitness experts will say thing like:

  • You need to do more cardio. But only do it on a treadmill or elliptical because they are somehow magical.
  • Beware of carbs, they are the devil’s child.
  • In fact, give KETO a shot, it’ll give you the jump start you need.
  • If you do enough sit ups, your belly will being to shrink.
  • Your training isn’t supposed to be fun or engaging, it supposed to be tough and monotonous.
  • You should eat many, small, frequent meals. And no matter what you do, never eat right around bed time.  If you do, you will risk serious physical side effects.

Man, this list could probably go on for 10 pages, but that’s enough to get you started.
