She Dropped 22 Pounds and 3 Inches!!

Nicole entered an application for the first ever Panda Challenge back in early March, before the world turned upside down.

Nicole was familiar with our unconventional approach as she was a former, long-time member.

She lost 3 inches on her waist and 22 pounds!  Better yet, her visceral fat, the fat that surrounds your organs (a marker of stress and dangerous predictor of future disease) went down 5 whole points!

5 Great Things That Have Come About Since Quarantine Began

Apparently, one of the haters from yesterday’s email had his panties in a bunch a few weeks back because I said that the week was the most amazing week of my life.

This Tool Boy just couldn’t comprehend that I could be having an amazing week despite all the doom and gloom in the news.

Listen, life is always going to be full of death and destruction.  That’s how life is.  If you focus on it, you are going to live a miserable existence.  Struggling is mandatory, suffering is a choice.

With that, I feel terrible for anyone that lost a loved one due to the virus and I feel terrible for all those struggling because of the lockdowns.  

But I bet you if you took the time and made a list, you’d be able to come up with some great things that have come out of this time.  

 

Here are 5 of mine:

 

1- I made some great new with local and county authorities.

2- Newell Strength was able to give some normalcy back to our clients, staff and community. 

3- I was able to help 25 clients totally transform their way of life and their minds through our first 2 Panda Challenge groups. 

4- I made one great new friend that was with me every step of the way through the ordeals of the week of 5.18.

5- I was able to go into ‘battle’ with my grandfather, Leo, the WW2 vet I always speak of and we were able to speak on stage at an event down the shore.

 

The list could keep going, but the point is to have you realize that great things happen all the time, it’s up to you if you choose to focus on them.

The 5 Things You Can Learn From the Corona Situation

Last week when I was pondering what to talk about on my podcast, it hit me.

 

We are living through one of the greatest times for learning and growth this very second. 

 

Yet, most people are not paying attention to that reality and that opportunity.  

 

It’s easy to get caught up in the negative.  It’s easy to become depressed right now. It’s easy to become a lazy Homer Simpson because ‘it’s just not fair’. 

 

I promise you that one day you and I will look back upon this and marvel. 

 

Some will wish they had seized the opportunity within the chaos. 

 

Some will come out of it transformed.

 

Each day this week I will be bringing one of the five areas of growth to get and learn from this situation.

Your Health

 

Right now, your health is your saving grace; in many ways.

 

We know that this virus primarily is a threat to those that are elderly and those that have immune compromised conditions.  Yes, I know that there have been outlier cases, but 99.99% of the time, if you have health and fitness on your side, you will fall into the 80% of cases that have mild to no symptoms. 

 

And if you don’t have health on your side, then let this be a wake up call. 

 

Yes, you can have all the excuses in the world, but the timing is never going to be perfect and if a world-wide lock down isn’t your A-HA moment, then you need to check your priorities. 

 

Living a healthy life is a choice. 

 

So is living an unhealthy lifestyle. 

 

If you don’t know where to start, then hire a Coach. 

 

 

If you do live a disciplined lifestyle focused on physical fitness, then keep it up.  DO NOT let it slide just because you can’t get to the gym. Now is the time that your family and loved ones need you to be at your best.

 

Working on your physical fitness is the doorway to mental toughness.

 

Physical fitness is one of the key regulators of your mood and attitude. 

 

You can simply choose to begin.

 

Or you can commit to never stop.

1- The Fat Shredder is coming!  Realistically it’ll probably start at some point in the backside of May and run until the 4th of July weekend.  Here’s all you have to do for now: start thinking of your teammates. Each team will have at least a member, non-member and one woman (teams of 3).  It’s gonna be epic and just what we all need at that time:)




6 Simple Ways to Boost Your Immune System

When I first started teaching, I used to get sick left and right.  So many kids, so many bugs.

But it didn’t help that I didn’t take sleep seriously.  I would opt for 4-5 hours a night in my quest to become the best at what I did, not realizing the harmful effects it had on my health. 

Anyhow, once I got straight….

I went 3+ years without getting sick, not even as much as a sniffle, by following these guidelines.  

Here are some simple things you can do to boost your immune system:

✅Get your D3 in, we recommend either 10,000 IU/day or between 30,000-50,000IU Twice per week

✅Get your vitamin A in.  It acts as a protective shell to your cells, making it harder for things like a virus to penetrate

✅Sleep! Nothing will boost your immune strength like sleep and nothing will tear it down faster than not sleeping enough!

✅Fasting! Fasting allows the immune cells of the body to do their job without interference. There’s a reason your appetite goes way down when you get a bad cold or a flu, your body is talking to you:)

✅Laughing and walking.  Both of these lower stress hormones.  Stress hormones weaken the immune system

For the time being, I am going to be focusing purely on mindset until things settle down for us.

 

Most people struggle with anxiety as it is.

 

So as you can imagine, this coronavirus is only making it worse.  Or shall I say the coverage of it….

 

What you focus on grows!

 

Stop watching every damn minute of the news.

 

Stop scrolling social media looking for the bad news of the day.

 

You’ll find out what you need to know from your friends.

 

Put your focus on the stuff you have to be grateful for.

 

Put your focus on your  health.

 

Yes, it’s time to fast for a bit from the nightly news and social media.  Allow your brain a break.

Discover a Way to Stay Consistently Motivated

A few weeks ago, I had a rather tough Mind Map session with a client.

 

He had been slipping and he needed a coming to Jesus meeting.

 

And I could sense as I took him ‘down the darkside’ path, a technique I only use in dire circumstances, that he wanted to give me generalities.

 

There is a reason for this; the human brain don’t like discomfort.

 

But I know as a long-time Coach that generalities will kill consistency and discipline.

 

I pressed him and made him realize the painful reality of what would happen if he continued his downward slide.  Yes, tears were shed, but I am happy to say the fire under his arse was lit once again.

 

If you want to be consistently motivated, you need to shine the light on the pain that will come if you fail to take action.  Pleasure does not do the trick, pain does.

 

One of my bookmarks is a picture of Brax and Colty and on the back I wrote: I will never let you boys down.  A quick look at that sends shivers up my spine at the idea of letting them down or quitting because things are tough.

 

Find it and press on it.

Your  Endocrinologist is Wrong!

A week ago I had a recharge meeting with one of our clients.

 

And let me tell you, this lovely client has met and exceeded her original expectations.

 

She was telling me that she was at her endocrinologist a week or so prior and the edno was telling her that she shouldn’t be fasting because it would put  her into the dreaded starvation mode.

 

Yup, instead, her endo wanted her to eat a very defined amount of calories spread across 5 small meals per day.

 

To which our client said, ‘But you had me do this a few years ago and absolutely nothing changed.  Now, for the first time, I have dropped 10+ pounds and you’re telling me it’s incorrect?’

 

The endo in this case is just like all the other fake fitness experts.

 

They repeat what they’ve heard without actually knowing the truth.

 

Eating in the fashion that the endo and so many others teach is what puts you into ‘starvation’ mode, where as fasting actually revs up your metabolism and makes sure you aren’t in starvation mode by way of what goes on with the hormones.

 

I’m on a mission to change the world with this approach to eating and I’ll be damned if I will defer to a doctor in this case:).
