What Are You Going to Do to Get Out of Your Comfort Zone?

This morning, I went for my 45-minute walk with my 80 pound weight vest on in a tsunami.

Why?

Because it’s Mental Toughness Monday.  

I am switching the name to mental toughness Monday rather than Mindset Monday because mental toughness is a skill.  Mindset is more fluid, some days we feel up, some days we feel down.  

But I have found over my life that when I feel down or in a rut, I can usually climb out just by challenging myself to be uncomfortable.  

What are you going to do today?  How are you going to challenge yourself?  Even if its something like taking a cold shower or writing a few sentences with your opposite hand.

 

DO SOMETHING!!!

Remember, mental toughness is a choice and a skill. 

And all skills can be learned.

1- The Fat Shredder is coming!  Realistically it’ll probably start at some point in the backside of May and run until the 4th of July weekend.  Here’s all you have to do for now: start thinking of your teammates. Each team will have at least a member, non-member and one woman (teams of 3).  It’s gonna be epic and just what we all need at that time:) 

 

2-I am opening the doors to the second Panda Challenge, which will be starting within the next 3 weeks.  The first 12 ‘Panda’s’ are crushing it and dare I say, all 12 are on track to hit their 45-day goals! Yes, I only take 12 because of the high level of Coaching each client receives.  5 of the spots are already taken from people that just missed the cut for the first Panda Challenge. At Last, 2 Things That You Do Have Control Over

For the past 2-3 weeks, you’ve been hearing a lot about the things that you don’t have control over.  

You haven’t been provided with much clarity on when this will come to an end.

And that lack of clarity will lead to a stress response, in this case, freeze mode. 

Well, I have good news.  

I want to direct your attention to the two things that you  always have control over; your effort and your attitude.

Yup, no matter what is going on in the outside world, you can control  your inner world through effort and attitude.

Throw the past few weeks out as learning experiences and decide right now how  you are going to work on your effort and attitude moving forward.

Do You Want to Know the Secret Sauce?

Discover a Way to Stay Consistently Motivated

A few weeks ago, I had a rather tough Mind Map session with a client.

 

He had been slipping and he needed a coming to Jesus meeting.

 

And I could sense as I took him ‘down the darkside’ path, a technique I only use in dire circumstances, that he wanted to give me generalities.

 

There is a reason for this; the human brain don’t like discomfort.

 

But I know as a long-time Coach that generalities will kill consistency and discipline.

 

I pressed him and made him realize the painful reality of what would happen if he continued his downward slide.  Yes, tears were shed, but I am happy to say the fire under his arse was lit once again.

 

If you want to be consistently motivated, you need to shine the light on the pain that will come if you fail to take action.  Pleasure does not do the trick, pain does.

 

One of my bookmarks is a picture of Brax and Colty and on the back I wrote: I will never let you boys down.  A quick look at that sends shivers up my spine at the idea of letting them down or quitting because things are tough.

She Made it a Family Affair

About a year ago, Dan C. did one of our Ripped Dads contests.

Mateena Nearly Took a Life

Almost 3 weeks ago, Devon took the kids and pups over to her sister’s house so the kids and canines could have a playdate.

 

It was a nice enough day so they were outside, riding bikes and having a hoot.

 

It turns out, the neighbor over there has a bunch of chickens.

 

Which you could have guess… the dogs were very excited about.

 

Dax and his canine cousin, Gauge, were interested but from a distance.

 

However, Mateena, our silver lab, nearly took off one of the chicken’s heads but if not for the owner’s fight or flight response to snatch the chicken up.

 

Devon reported that it was quite the scare and could have been pretty mortifying with all the kids around.

 

But dogs are dogs, great animals and friends, but dogs will do what dogs are made to do.

 

Kind of like you will be what you believe you are.

 

Think about that.

Here’s What Happened to Tank’s Nose

A couple of Wednesday’s ago, I was outside with Emma and Tank, playing up in the cul de sac.

 

I had Tank’s mini-basketball and was dribbling around, which peaked his interest.

 

Tank came running over and after a little keep away, I gave him the ball.

 

He was now having a blast trying to keep the ball away with me.

 

But then, the ball got away from him after rolling off his foot.  He ran after it, tripped on the base of the mini hoop and…..

 

Face planted right into the curb.  I saw the whole thing in slow motion and felt awful.

 

Thank goodness he didn’t chip all his front teeth.

 

However, he did land right on his nose, which left him bloodied up and looking like Rudolph; his entire nose was skinned.

 

He was over it in about 2 minutes and it made for a lifetime memory: skinning his nose the first time playing basketball.

 

You never know when a mini-disaster will strike, but you can’t let that stop you from trying new things and having fun.
