Step Right Up to Colty’s Emporium

12 days ago, we had a long, fruitful day (how they all should be) with a leadership team offsite meeting.

So, when we got home, it was nice to have some chill time in the driveway play area with the kiddos.

Devon had a nice glass of wine, I was smoking my Friday afternoon stogie.

Devon had asked me to move this huge piece of tree that I cut a few months early that we had been using as a seat for a period of time.

Whelp, upon moving it, I noticed a newt, which is one of Colt’s favorite critters.  I told him to grab his portable critter case so we could put him in there for some observation.

Not more than 10 minutes later, the boys had found about 3 more newts.

And then as luck would have it, we saw this giant caterpillar-like creature.  It was about the size of my index finger and red.  In he went.

Then, we found a bull toad that took up my whole palm, he didn’t go in the case, we put him in a bucket.

This all happened in the matter of minutes.  Colty created a whole emporium in the matter of minutes along with Braxton’s help.

You can create something pretty quickly when you focus on it and put your attention on it.

And yes, we let the critters go at dusk, safe and sound.

P.S-Doors are now open for Panda #5.  I am taking 10 students into this 66-day program.  If you’d like to drop 3 inches and a minimum of 12 pounds (and keep it off!) while gaining boatloads of energy, simply reply to this email with Panda in the subject line and you and I can have a quick chat to see if you’re a good fit for the Panda.

P.P.S-My new book, The Panda Diet, is out and selling like hot cakes.  In fact, I won’t be surprised if it’s the number one book in its niche before the year is over.  If you are interested in my methods, you can go to Panda Diet

.P.S-Our next Trinity Transformation program begins on Thursday, October 1st.  We are taking 12 people per location.

Breakthrough for Brax

About two weeks ago, we were at our good friend’s beach house.  It’s one of our favorite places to BE.

It is amazing to watch the relationships with Brax, Tank and Emma evolve with our dear friends.  And Devon and I know that it takes a village to raise a child.

Watching Brax learn from Sweet Lou in the pool was amazing.  Brax rapidly progressed from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.

Much, much quicker than an adult can learn anything.

Part of the reason is youth and a, ripe brain.  But the other part is that Braxton is so endlessly curious.  He is self-competitive.

He asks a ton of questions, he tries something, then evaluates and adds on the next skill.  In this case, it was jumping in the pool with no life jacket, staying underwater for up to 10 seconds, searching the bottom of the pool for toys, etc.

It was amazing to watch and I was as proud as a dad could be.

What did I learn from Brax?  Simply to always be endlessly curious and to be better than I was prior (prior day, prior week, prior year and on).

P.S-I am taking people for the next Panda Challenge, it begins June 22nd.  Based on the first two challenges, the average inches lost around the waist in just 45 days is 3”!!!! If you are interested in one of the remaining 9 spots, reply to this email with ‘Panda’ in the subject box.

P.P.S-After much consideration, we are pushing our Fat Shredder to September.  We will be able to run it better and people will be ready for it.  We don’t want anyone to miss out.  Details will come out as it gets closer.

Why You Can Have an Advantage over 99.9% of People

As I’ve been looking back at videos I made from nearly a decade ago, I get goosebumps.

Why?

Because, I am learning from my younger self.  Some of the stuff resonates now with me more than it did back then.

It’s a cool thing when you can learn from your younger self.  Old videos, old journal entries and such.

If you don’t have a record of your younger thoughts, then begin now.

Anyhow, enjoy today’s throwback video of why you have an advantage over 99.9% of people out there if you choose to.

P.S.-If you’d like to work with us and have the best Coaching in the world, before this craziness is behind us, then check out the opportunity below.  The first round of clients are crushing it and they’d be the first to tell you  that it’s the best investment you  could make in yourself, particularly given the current climate…

1-Last week I opened the doors to the second Panda Challenge, which will be starting May 11th.  10 of the 12 spots are already taken and it looks like this will be the trend going forward for this Challenge as it’s one of a kind and dare I say, the most effective ‘Nutrition Challenge’ in the world (mark my words, you heard it here first). Meditate on Your Death

Since I was a young kid, 7 or 8 years old, I have been contemplating death.

What?!

Allow me to explain.

Shortly after we moved to NJ from Michigan, one of our neighborhood buddies from Michigan died of a brain aneurysm.

He was only slightly older than me.

But it had such an impact on me that I obsessed over death for quite a few years.

These periods of intro-flection would come and go and still do.

Do I sit in the corner and fear death?  No, I am more curious about it at this point.

One thing that it has allowed me to do though is to take chances and to play as big as I can possibly play in life.

I keep track of my weeks gone by and weeks left, literally, with two buckets of marbles in my home office.

Morbid?  Maybe.

I see it as helping to live more and to live better.

1- The Fat Shredder is coming!  Realistically it’ll probably start at some point in the backside of May and run until the 4th of July weekend.  Here’s all you have to do for now: start thinking of your teammates. Each team will have at least a member, non-member and one woman (teams of 3).  It’s gonna be epic and just what we all need at that time:)

2-I am opening the doors to the second Panda Challenge, which will be starting within the next 3 weeks.  The first 12 ‘Panda’s’ are crushing it and dare I say, all 12 are on track to hit their 45-day goals! Yes, I only take 12 because of the high level of Coaching each client receives.  5 of the spots are already taken from people that just missed the cut for the first Panda Challenge. If you’d like to find out more info and at least throw your name in the ring for me to decide if you’re a good fit, then go here: https://hillsborough.newellstrength.com/step_1

What Are You Going to Do to Get Out of Your Comfort Zone?

This morning, I went for my 45-minute walk with my 80 pound weight vest on in a tsunami.

Why?

Because it’s Mental Toughness Monday.

I am switching the name to mental toughness Monday rather than Mindset Monday because mental toughness is a skill.  Mindset is more fluid, some days we feel up, some days we feel down.

But I have found over my life that when I feel down or in a rut, I can usually climb out just by challenging myself to be uncomfortable.

What are you going to do today?  How are you going to challenge yourself?  Even if its something like taking a cold shower or writing a few sentences with your opposite hand.

DO SOMETHING!!!

Remember, mental toughness is a choice and a skill.

And all skills can be learned.

You got this.

The Real Reason Mind Mapping Almost Didn’t Happen

The Real Reason Mind Mapping Almost Didn’t Happen

A little over two years ago I was sitting at a sandwich shop, talking with a buddy, scheming about why we should leave the seminar we were attending.

It didn’t make sense.

There was no way we could actually use it.

And, there was one really annoying girl in the 10 person class.

But something in my gut told me to stay, so that we did.

That seminar was my first exposure to Mind Mapping with Dax.

I was scared.  I was so into the mind, but this would be one more thing to learn and to try and master.  I didn’t have the time I told myself.

Or was I scared that I would actually become much more powerful in helping people transform their lives and the awesome responsibility was the thing I feared?

I am not quite sure, but I am glad that I over-rode my instinct to flee.  Every time you feel that instinct in a non-violent situation, it is your chance to step outside your comfort zone and grow.

Pay attention to the signs of life, they are everywhere and they come at you multiple times per day.

Grow or shrivel, the choice is yours.

Speaking of growing, here’s a chance for you to master yourself; for a limited time, followers of Newell Strength can get the 25 page time mastery manual and live recording for dirt cheap.  This is powerful if put to use, so if that awesome responsibility scares you, then it’s probably best to pass on it.  http://www.kylenewell.com/time

Rhino’s Don’t Feel Gnats

Rhino’s Don’t Feel Gnats

Have you ever been stopped dead in your tracks by judgment?

I am sure the answer is yes.  The brain is very sensitive to judgment for survival reasons.

Here’s how it works:  your brain perceives slights and judgments.  The animal brain perceives it as you might get ‘kicked out’ of the tribe and your chance for survival goes way down.

(By the way, this is THE reason people in general are so petrified of public speaking).

Whenever you are trying to actually create something in your life, the swamp creatures will come out to attack.  It’s human nature.

And if you worried about everyone that said something mean or nasty about you, you would never ever be able to succeed.

Do you know why Rhino’s don’t feel gnats?  It’s because they have thick skin…

What other people think of you is none of your business.

If you expect that any time you are passing someone on the ladder of life they WILL bark at you, then you can formulate your response ahead of time.

Don’t give them any energy of yours.  Simply move on and realize that if you are trying to please everyone, you will wind up pleasing nobody.

Your self-image is everything.  Believe in what you are doing.

December’s workshop is going to be like nothing you’ve ever experienced.  I was going to do it on the 14th, but I need a little extra time to prepare for this one.  This one will be limited to 7 people max.  Keep an eye later this week for the bullet points of what we will be doing at this ‘Davinci’ workshop.

Picking Ticks Off In the Middle of the Night

Picking Ticks Off In the Middle of the Night

For as long as I can remember, I have been super-sensitive to touch.

It’s as if my spatial awareness was hyped-up on some juice.  And, it’s only gotten more pronounced as the years have gone on.

Not to say that I have a super power, but I often sense a thing moving before it moves.

A good example would be yesterday when my deodorant (not anti-perspirant, but that’s another article) fell out of my cabinet in the bathroom.

I was brushing my teeth with my left hand, sensed the deodorant falling and caught it before it hit the sink with my right hand.

Might not sound that odd, but it happens to me all the time.  I like to think I have a little bit of ‘spidey-sense’.

You would think that being so sensitive to my surroundings would potentially make it hard for me to sleep, but it doesn’t.

I sleep like a rock, usually only waking up for a crying Braxton (if Devon nudges me) or a few minutes before my alarm goes off.

Except when my spidey-sense kicks in during sleep.

About a month ago, I woke up from a deep sleep in a pitch black room, reached down to my leg with my thumb and pointer and plucked a tick clean off of me. It wasn’t embedded yet, it was simply crawling on my leg.

What’s the point of all this ‘weirdness’?

The point is that if you develop any of your skills or senses to a maximum degree, the brain will take over and your subconscious will do a lot of the thought for you.

Think about how this can relate to any of your routines or ways of thinking.

Plan out the next day the night before.  Know what your morning routine is every single morning.  Let the brain do it’s thing.

It’s the most amazing thing on earth if you allow it to be.

You know what else would be amazing?  Giving someone you love the gift of Newell Strength for their NY resolution.  You can start by getting them a 3-week test drive here:  http://www.newellstrength.com/3wtd

Yoda, Einstein and Seinfeld

Yoda, Einstein and Seinfeld

What do these 3 characters have in common?

They all had a life philosophy to live by.

Yes, I know this is the second time this week we are talking about philosophy.

And in case you are behind, on Wednesday I wrote about my training philosophies.

Well, today my good friend, I am going to let you in on some of my life’s philosophies.

You know, as each year goes by, I get more and more confident.  Not arrogant, but SELF-confident.  After some reflection, I realize that is because my life philosophies are really becoming more ingrained and taking ‘root’.

I cannot state the importance of having a list of principals you live by.

I will not list them all here, but I will be covering this in much more detail in an upcoming podcast (you do realize I now have a podcast, right?:)).

Without further ado:

  • My mind must be nurtured each day through learning new things and connection with a higher power.  A weak mind equals a weak life.
  • I get final say of who I let into my life.  If someone drains me, they get banned from my life.  And no, this doesn’t have to be a confrontation.  I just cut off my life’s energy from them leeching off it anymore. I know who’s opinions to value and whose don’t.
  • Time is the most precious thing that I have, I must protect is like my life depends on it, because it does.
  • I cannot reason with emotion.  It’s a losing proposition.  Don’t offer up ‘coaching’ in any relationship in your life if the person doesn’t ask you for it.
  • Nearly any skill can be learned through repetition.  And repetition is what separates the successful from the tire-kickers.  Enthusiasm is easy, endurance is the hard part.

Wo-MAN, that is therapeutic just writing it out once again.  Give it a try.  I could go on forever, but my workout with the Wolverine is calling my name.

Be different.  Get clear on your philosophy.

-Kyle Newell
