Sufferers of Monkey Mind

Two weeks ago, a friend reached out concerned with his testosterone level.  

 

He has been on testosterone replacement therapy and his numbers look good, but as of late, he has had trouble being present in the moment with his wife, if you know what I mean.  

 

Not only that, but his ability to concentrate on his job as been trailing off.

 

It was very clear to me that he was suffering from Monkey Mind.  He is not doing anything to calm his mind.  

 

When your mind gets too loud, you can forget about being present and having superb energy.  

 

In today’s day in age, training your mind is just as important, if not more, than your formal workouts (which is a form of mind training too).  

 

If you think you don’t have time for stillness, walking, breathing, backwards walking or more restful sleep, then you are the exact type of person that needs it the most.

Laziness and Energy

I had an epiphany last week. And that epiphany was this:

To create anything, we need to bring energy to the table.  Creating can only happen when energy is present and ramped up.  

Think about money for example; money is just a form of energy, an exchange for you providing energy.  Some people’s energy can affect tons of people, while other people’s energy can’t even affect themselves.  

When we go into freeze mode, when too much stress piles on, we are entering a depressed state.  Everyone has dealt with depression of some sort at one point or another.  When we are in that frozen state, energy is crap and creating is almost impossible.  

So, what’s this got to do with you?

If you want to create better health, you need to bring more energy to the table, not less. 

If you want to switch careers, you better up your energy.  

If you want to have better relationships, you better up your energy.  

Sometimes, you have to be ‘lazy’ in order to cultivate and protect your energy.  When I say lazy, I mean you have to recharge; maybe that’s a little extra sleep, maybe it means doing something fun and so on.  

I used to sleep very little because I thought it was a sign of laziness and therefore weakness.  Little did I know that I was robbing my ability to create what I aspired to.

Fear Attracts Like Energy

Over the past month, I have been reviewing and going over my notes from the book, Conversations with God.  

The book examines energy and fear and such.

One of the 3 laws in the book is that fear attracts like energy.  

 

Huh?  

 

People don’t realize that their thoughts are magnetic and have literal energy frequencies.  

Ever wonder why some people seem to have a black cloud following them around?  

Your thoughts lead to your actions and your words.  The clearest example that I have thought of recently about words having energy is music.  

Notice how your favorite song makes you feel or how angry music can make you angry and change your mood. 

If your dominant thought is one of fear, be mindful of it and then begin to change your inner dialogue.

Can You Look Fear in the Eye?

Two weeks ago, I embarked on the craziest week of my life.  

I am currently making it into a short 20 page book and possibly a documentary at some point in the next year.  

Anyhow, before the week began, I received a text from a friend and client that said, ‘I admire what you are doing, looking fear right in the eye and not flinching….’

That was a jolt of energy that I needed on Sunday the 17th.  

And look, your fears will be different than my fears and this lesson about fear isn’t just about how we opened up Newell Strength with the government’s approval (amazing how it came about). 

The point is, when you feel fear, that usually means you are heading in the right direction.  

The problem is, when you feel it, look it in the eye and then retreat back into your comfort zone, never having gone through the transformational process of going head first into the resistance you feel.

Lessons are everywhere, if you are paying attention.

Discover How to Read Your Own Feedback

A few weeks ago, after a really hard lower body training session, I awoke in the middle of the night with a nasty cramp right up in my groin.

It’s one of the muscles that ties into the hamstrings and helps you to extend the hip.

But that is really besides the point.

It was cramping because I had pushed it and strained it.

Well, here we are, a few weeks later and it’s hampering me.

You know why?

Because, I am still continuing to train it.

Stupid on my part.  I am ignoring my own biofeedback.  What’s that you say? It’s the feedback that your body is always telling you.  This is something that we use a lot within the Panda challenge and we teach within that program because once a person knows what signs to look for, they can make adjustments.

My groin is a very simple example, but it’s no different than someone feeling a lack of energy and a dip in mindset from the way they are eating or dieting.  Most people would just use the scale to dictate protocol even if biofeedback is pointing in another direction.

And yes, I am going to start altering lower body training so this thing can heal up:).

Friday Focus: Where is Your Attention Going?

Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.

 

In life, where our attention goes is everything.  Literally!  Think about it.

 

Where your attention goes, your energy flows and results follow.

 

If you want to improve your health, you need to constantly put your focus on your health.

 

And the best way to redirect your focus and attention is through the questions you are asking yourself.

 

I just did this with Devon the other day….

 

When a situation arises ask yourself: ‘What is my inner dialogue at the moment?’

 

To redirect your attention to you need to realize and catch the runaway train of thoughts that sometimes build such momentum that we don’t realize we actually do have control over them.

The Early Years of Newell Strength
